David Smith is an award-winning filmmaker, writer, and professor.
His work (200+ productions) in commercial video production has earned him two corporate top-honor awards from KINKO's and The Bridgestone Group, as well as three Telly Awards for his work with the Tennessee Center for Child Welfare. His most recent narrative short script, The Acolyte, won Best Screenplay at the Southern Horror Film Festival. He is currently the Film Crew Technology Program Director at the Columbia State Community College’s Franklin campus. As a bit of trivia, his first paid film production gig was in 1983 when he was as freshman in college. He was an un-credited local (Nashville) Production Assistant for the film "Starman," starring Jeff Bridges and Karen Allen.
